The second New York retail effort of Lyon native Gaelle Drevet (her first was Pixie Market), The Frankie Shop caters to downtown cool girls who happen to be on a budget (an increasingly forgotten demographic). Here, understated Rive Gauche chic is the top note, with most dresses and blazers selling for about $150 (pricier options go up to $400). To keep costs down, Drevet sells only independent brands with limited distribution—Apiece Apart, Rodebjer, Chakshyn, and LOQ, to name but a few. The white-walled, beige-curtained space sets a breathable backdrop for the goods, which also include candles, organic soaps, indie perfumes, and quirky pet accessories.
