This 7,000-square-foot furniture and home-accessories store is the first personal retail venture of Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch, the visionaries behind the architecture and interior-design firm Roman and Williams (named after their grandfathers). Travelers who have stayed in any of the spaces they’ve designed, which include the Ace Hotel, the Standard Highline, and the Viceroy, can now return home with the firm’s award-winning modern aesthetic without committing to an entire project. The Guild comprises three divisions: “Founding,” a collection of Roman and Williams-designed sofas, tables, benches, chairs, desks, and cabinets; “Community,” an array of curated objects from design partners in far-flung locales; and “Found,” a selection of one-of-a-kind antiques. And because there’s a French restaurant on site, called La Mercerie Café, led by chef Marie-Aude Rose, décor-hunters are able to make an entire day out of the experience. (Start with oysters and finish with a crêpe au sucre.)
