Since its launch in 1989, Lucky Strike has come to epitomize French-American comfort food for Soho’s veterans of a certain age, who wonder why it doesn’t garner the same attention as owner Keith McNally’s other eternally hyped restaurants (Indochine, Balthazar, Minetta Tavern, etc.). The brunch, lunch, and dinner menus may not be experimental, but, as with The Odeon (another McNally success), at least they’re consistent, featuring eggs benedict, nicoise salad, and one of the best steak frites in town. Lucky Strike is also known for the uncommonly generous portions of its cocktails, which we recommend ordering at the hammered-copper bar. Try the Southside (Bombay Sapphire, lemon juice, cucumber, mint, sugar) for a refreshing summer nightcap.
