Named after the Mexican herb, Quintonil is the family-driven effort of chef Jorge Vallejo, who earned his stripes under Pujol’s Enrique Olvera, and his wife, Alejandra Flores, who runs the leaf-covered dining room. The focus of this Polanco restaurant, which earned a place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, is contemporary Mexican cuisine informed by local greens and sustainable practices. In fact, many of the ingredients are picked from the couple’s nearby garden, and the rest are grown no more than 30 meters from the restaurant. Anticipate dishes like chilacayotes (squash) in mole, suckling-pig tacos with a dried-chile-and-coffee reduction, and, for dessert, Mexican chocolate with corn ice cream. Book ahead as early as possible, as the coveted tables go quickly.
