Located just off Parque España, La Clandestina has an unassuming entrance that opens into an intimate, warmly lit enclave centered on a mezcal display worthy of a mad scientist. No fewer than 22 numbered varieties of the smoky spirit fill a wall-mounted display of massive glass vats, their contents fed into tasting glasses from a network of plastic tubes. Flavor profiles range from light and refreshing to deep, dark, and whiskylike. Each mezcal incarnation can be tasted straight or mixed into an expert cocktail.
